THEME OF MONTESSORI LEARNING

So, accordingly, this method of learning and character building is based on a number of learning steps which help a child to grow in a way by feeling sufficient confidence upon himself/herself. But these steps are not fixed for each child, these may re-arranged as per the child’s abilities to learn, emotional strength, social background, family culture etc,. the activities used in the process of learning in a prepared environment are known as Montessori Material which can easily be categorized in different classes.! 

1. Practical Life Activities :

These activities helps a child to learn basic skills essential for becoming self sufficient. These may include washing hands, brush your teeth, tie up your shoe laces, cleaning the toys, managing your cloths in a cupboard/drawer etc,.

2. Social Activities :

These activities helps children to learn how to cooperate, assist, oblige, talk, participate in a grouped conversation and behave with respect towards others, following specific rules. This may achieve by giving a very friendly and open environment under some set rules in a pre-school Montessori with class contains at least 5-8 students under the supervision of a trained Montessori teacher.

3. Sensorial Activities :

These activities assist children to develop their senses by a number of sensorial experience / observations and learn through them.

4. Mathematics Concepts :

During this step of learning, Children introduced to numbers, their addition/subtraction, counting skills etc,. through a number of sensorial, visual, conceptual as well as tracing/reading/writing activities. This learning step also includes a number of activities regarding the identification/recognition and naming of different shapes, their placing from the examples of real life instruments.

5. Language:

As our society is bi-lingual, mostly use Urdu & English for conversation. During the session of learning languages, Children learn how to use the Urdu and English language correctly through specific activities, as well as how to read and write in both languages. This step starts with introduction of Alphabets, recognition of Alphabets, leaning Phonics, arrangement of Alphabets, concept to arrange alphabets for making a word etc,.

6. Art:

The most easy and environment friendly activity is “Drawing” which will help children in hand grip, colour identification, colour recognition,  colour mixing for creating new colours, creating of a picture/shape using their own inner ability and fill it with colours of their own choice.  these activities may carried out by using drawing boards or sheets to write and wipe for re-writing.

7. Culture & Traditions:

Children learn about the habits, customs, traditions and history of Pakistan as well as other neighboring countries, through very interesting and lively activities. This also include the celebrations of our cultural day, day of liberty, day of country’s leader birth, colour day, mother’s day etc.

8. Ecology:

Children learn about Nature, Plants, Animals, Birds, Wildlife and  how important to us and our planet.
